The Lakewood Community Center has announced a transformative $50 million expansion project that will dramatically increase its capacity and modernize its facilities.
The expansion will include a new wing dedicated to educational programs, a modern gymnasium, an indoor swimming pool, and expanded childcare facilities. The project is expected to take three years to complete.
"This expansion represents our commitment to serving every member of our growing community," said the center's director at the announcement event. "We've outgrown our current space, and this project will allow us to serve twice as many families."
The funding comes from a combination of community donations, state grants, and federal matching funds. Construction is expected to begin in the spring.
