The plane transmitted the international 7500 emergency code, indicating a suspected hijacking or unlawful interference. Reports say crew members and passengers intervened and helped subdue the pilot. The aircraft then diverted from its planned route and landed safely at Tabuk Airport in Saudi Arabia. Israeli authorities reportedly scrambled fighter jets as the situation developed and worked to determine what was happening aboard the aircraft. All passengers and crew were reported safe following the emergency landing. Authorities are continuing to investigate the incident, including what prompted the alleged attack and whether the pilot deliberately attempted to take control of the aircraft.
